Health System Recovery Project, Nuwakot Launched

Health System Recovery Project, Nuwakot, a joint effort funded by Korean International Co-operation Agency (KOICA) and having Good Neighbors International Nepal, German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), and United Nations Development Programmme (UNDP) as implementing partners was launched officially on 1st July 2016 with the participation of representatives from Ministry of Health (MoH), District Public Health Office (DPHO), Nuwakot, GNI Nepal, KOICA, GIZ, and UNDP.

The project has the goal of improving the health status and psycho-social wellbeing of community members through post-disaster recovery. The implementation of this project will be completed by 30th December 2018. It will cover 10 earthquake affected VDCs – Charghare, Ratmate, Duipipal, Belkot, Suryamati, Okharpauwa, Panchakanya, Thaprek, Likhu and Ghyangphedi in Nuwakot District and benefit fifty thousand community members.

GNI Nepal through this project will support 10 health posts and a district hospital with medical equipment and medicine and the health workforce will be capacitated with an emphasis on improving the maternal and child health (MCH) and adolescent sexual and reproductive health (ASRH) services.  Selected schools and communities will be provided psycho-social support and sensitized on psycho-social issues.
