27th Foundation Day Celebrated

On 28th March 2018, Good Neighbors International Nepal celebrated its 27th Foundation Day with activities centered around a unique theme and engaging children like past years.

Staff at the GNI Nepal’s Head Office at Ekantakuna, Lalitpur District repainted the Kharibot Chautara (Communal Resting Place) that was painted in 2017 as a part of the Foundation Day Celebration which was followed by tree plantation at Pathapardarsak School in Badhikehl, Lalitpur District. It is expected that the school premises will be more green and beautiful in a few years.

Disabled Service Association, formed in 1997 AD in Bungamati of Lalitpur was also visited by staff member of GNI Nepal. A new water-well which was constructed with financial aid from GNI Nepal was also inaugurated on the foundation day. This well will cater to the daily water needs of the 52 physically challenged children. A water purification system will also be installed.

Additionally, hygiene kits customized according to age, sex, and use was given to all 52 children living at the Association’s residential home.  Snacks was also provided to them.  In late afternoon, 23 staff members will donate blood at Nepal Red Cross Society’s blood collection center at Balkumari.

GNI Nepal’s District Offices in Humla, Gorkha, Darchula, and Doti also marked the day with apple sapling plantation (210) at District Hospital Humla; distribution of 22 sets of stationery materials, special food-items to four lactating mothers, and groceries handover to Manab Sewa Ashram, Gorkha; organizing sanitation program in Malikaarjun Rural Municipality and inauguration of the  lab of a health post where the lab equipment was supported by GNI Nepal.

Kailai District Office celebrated the day with HIV infected children and their parents in Lamki Bazaar.
