Saemaul Zero Hunger Communities (SZHC) Project was a three year project implemented in two highly food insevure VDCs Ladagada and Pokhari of Doti district.. This project followed a holistic development approach that integrated three different project concepts 1) the Cash for Assets (CFA) programme of the WFP, 2) the Community Development model of GNI, and 3) the Saemaul Undong Model, formerly known as New Village Movement (NVM), of the RoK.
SZHC project consisted of interventions ranging from asset creation and rehabilitation, livelihood strengthening, enhanced basic services and capacity development, which addresssed the challenges of food insecurity and rural poverty. The project strived to increase the accountability of the local government, as well as empowering the community members by building their capacity and facilitating behavioural changes.
