Goal
  • To improve the livelihood of small-holder farmers through dairy value chain development

In 2019,  Good Neighbors International Nepal implemented a Dairy Value Chain Development Project in Panchthar District  with the goal of strengthening the dairy production sector and increasing the income levels of small farmers.

Milan Kendra Nepal implemented the three-year project in collaboration with the local government and three local cooperatives. The main objective of the project is to support the expansion and management of local and external markets for milk and milk products in the project area. The project's intervention were specifically targeted at farmer affiliation in cooperatives, capacity building of cooperatives, development of livestock management skills and knowledge, expansion of service providers, facilitation of smallholder farmers' access to capital, improvement of dairy animal breeding, animal insurance, diversification of dairy products, and expansion of institutionalized milk collection and processing centers.
