SAFE Girls Project Launch in Madhesh and Sudhurpaschim Province

The SAFE Girls Project has been launched in Sudhurpaschim and Madhesh province in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Development of Sudhurpaschim, the Ministry of Sports and Social Welfare of Madhesh, and UNFPA.

This project was launched in formal events organized at Hotel Sitasaran Dhanusha, Janakpur, and Hotel Rubus Dhangadi. Representatives from ministries, municipalities, development organizations, the media, and inspiring adolescents attended the events.

This initiative marks a step toward empowering women and young girls, creating safe and violence -free communities, and achieving social transformation. The project will provide safe spaces for adolescent girls and young women with support networks to help them build agency and social capital in peer-based support networks. Comprehensive sexuality education (CSE) will be provided in and out of schools, and services will be enhanced for preventing and responding to gender-based violence across municipalities.

We are excited to embark on this new journey and ready to kick off the field-level activities, working closely with the girls and young women. We look forward to working with our local partners, government, young girls, women, and community members to drive gender and social transformation.
