Position: Intern – Monitoring and Evaluation

Location: Head Office, Lalitpur

Application Deadline: October 14, 2026

Starting Date: November 2026

Duration of contract: 6 months fixed

Gross Salary: Rs. 1100 per day

 

Background

Good Neighbors International (GNI) is an international development and humanitarian organization that responds to the call of the neglected, vulnerable and marginalized beyond the barriers of race, nationality, religion, ideology, and geography. GNI empowers people in 46 countries across the world through social development activities and places particular emphasis on economic development in order to break the vicious cycle of poverty that people in developing countries suffer from. Established in 1991 in Seoul, South Korea, GNI has fundraising offices in Chile, Mexico, USA, Canada, South Korea, Japan, Australia, Taiwan, United Kingdom, and an International Cooperation Office in Geneva, Switzerland.

 

In Nepal, GNI has been working since 2002 for improving the lives of poor people, especially children through child protection, education, income generation, health services, water, sanitation and hygiene, disaster risk reduction/climate change adaptation, and advocacy programs. Currently, GNI Nepal serves marginalized, vulnerable, and poor children, families, and communities in 20 districts across Nepal.

 

The Intern – Monitoring and Evaluation will support the Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, & Learning (MEAL) team in data collection, analysis, and reporting to enhance evidence-based decision-making and learning. The internship provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in M&E practices, data management, and performance tracking within a development or humanitarian organization.

 

Major Duties and Responsibilities

 

The M&E Intern will assist in the following tasks:

  • Assist in data entry, cleaning, and analysis using software such as Excel, SPSS, or other relevant tools.
  • Support the design and development of data collection tools in KOBO to conduct assessments or surveys based on the organization's needs.
  • Contribute to the preparation of M&E reports, presentations, and dashboards.
  • Assist in developing and updating databases to track project indicators and performance.
  • Assist in the development and timely updating of the MOR from CDP, ensuring segregated data and accurate activity details.
  • Assist in ensuring data quality and consistency in reporting.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the MEAL team.
Job Requirements

Job Specifications

The candidates should have the following key job requirements and skills:

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Social Sciences, Economics, Public Health, Development Studies, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); experience with statistical software SPSS is an advantage.
  • Excellent oral and written English & Nepali.
  • Attention to detail and ability to take and follow instructions effectively.
  • Experience in data collection and analysis is a plus.

By the end of the internship, the M&E intern will:

  • Gain practical experience in M&E processes, including data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Develop technical skills in data management and analysis tools.
  • Enhance understanding of project performance tracking and evaluation methodologies.
  • Improve teamwork and communication skills within a professional setting.

 

Supervision & Support

 

The intern will work under the direct supervision of the MEAL Coordinator and will receive regular guidance and feedback.
