During this rainy season the outbreak of cholera has been witnessed in different communities of Kathmandu and Lalitpur districts. Poor hygiene and sanitation have inflicted the spread of this infectious disease in these districts. With an aim of controlling the surge of these cases through awareness, Under Enhancing Cholera Control Project in Nepal five day WASH booth camps were organized in Ward No. 11, 12 and 13 of Kathmandu Metropolitan City from 8 to 12 August in coordination with the health section and respective wards. Two WASH volunteers and one FCHVs were stationed in each booth to collect water samples for quality test via P/A and distribute IEC materials. Piyush (chlorine solutions) were also distributed to households where water test was Coliform positive.
Such booth services will also be organized in Bhooldhoka, Ward no.9, Lukhusi, Ward no. 17 and Satdobato, Ward no.15. The booth will include similar services which are water quality test, IEC distribution, and distribution of chlorine solution.
