Duration : (2022-01-01 - 2022-12-31)
Budget : $50,000

Goal

To transfer climate-resilient agricultural technologies through Climate Field School

Promoting Climate Field School for Resilient Agriculture project was carried out in Godawari Municipality and Konjosom Rural Municipality in partnership with Lele Development Center(LCDC).

The project sensitized local stakeholders and communities on adaptation and mitigation of climate change and enhanced agricultural productivity. For gradual reformation of the agricultural system, the project promoted climate-friendly practices like utilizing weather forecasts, choosing appropriate variety based on the climatic constraints (short duration and drought-resistant varieties), seed preservation, mulching technology, zero/minimum tillage agriculture, appropriate pest management system to reduce the use of synthetic pesticides, farm manure management, water-saving technologies for irrigation, compost making, etc.

Similarly, locally adaptable practices for farmyard manure management by using microorganisms was introduced and promoted widely. These technologies was disseminated through 20 Climate Field Schools. This initiative only capacitated farmers to understand different parameters of climate change in the short-term but also contributed to reducing agricultural greenhouse gas emissions leading to green agriculture in the longer term.
